Freya Wood - Personal evaluation

Throughout the process of making this experimental film work was divided amongst us and so I didn’t have a specific role. As having already worked with Georgia and Andrea the previous year on our documentary ‘Legend’, we decided to re-group this year and work together again. Last year we all communicated and worked well with one another to produce our film, which if felt was a success, which is why I was excited to work with both of them again. After forming our group, we each came up with different ideas which we shared with each other. We then settled on an idea that focused on a dancer/contortionist/someone different, moving in different ways through Leeds and showing their ‘abnormal’ behaviour. Julia joined our group not so long after and we began to develop our idea more. I volunteered to be our production representative, so I had the main contact with Lee. I was responsible for booking a meeting with him where I had many questions lined up for him, which he helpfully answe...

Georgia Brooke - Personal evaluation

When thinking about ideas for this experimental film I approached some students that I had worked with before in the documentary module, as we all get along and share common interests we quickly started forming our ideas. We put out a call for another member in the filmmaking group chat and through email to all second year students and quickly got some replies leading to us finding our fourth crew member. We had multiple meetings to develop our idea before our first tutorial with Sarah. In the pre-production process I took on the role of creating rough storyboards and shortlists so we could start to visualise our idea and work out what equipment and locations we would need. With this ground work I started researching into how much money we would need for set design, costume, trains, accommodation and food. This averaged out to around £300. With this information Andrea set up a go fund me with which we all shared on our Facebook and social media in order to raise some money to help ...

Julia Quintana - Personal evaluation

During this film, my work was divided into pre-production, filming on the day and post-production. I worked with three other students on this film. We did not have a designated role as we all did a bit of everything. However, I did work on pre-production, I did camera operating on the filming days and I worked on post-production regarding the edit. During pre-production, we all contributed to the idea and the story that we wanted to portray. We had group meetings in which we discussed how we wanted the story to evolve and shared ideas that we came up with. We all attended meetings with our tutor and discussed our ideas with them. Furthermore, I also searched for dancers that could act for our film. I asked a couple people that I knew from the Leeds Contemporary Dance School if they wanted to participate but unfortunately they were not available for the dates that we wanted to film as they were on tour. I also messaged many dancing/acting schools and institutes in Yorkshire and aske...

Andrea Paternuosto - Personal evaluation

Me, Freya and Georgia have worked together in year one, on a documentary project called ‘Legend’; our work came out pretty well, thus we decided to crew up again for the experimental this year. After having a few meetings in February, determining which direction we wanted to drive the story to, the Idea of Envisage came to life. Originally meant to be an entire reversed shoot, showing the diversity of a person with different habits and routines, our film was going to challenge us on experimenting, from doing some unusual shootings in crowded places, to achieving particularly ambitious lighting effects in the studio. After we found a fourth member, Julia, we split the jobs in pre-production and started to work on the project without setting specific roles, being a very small crew. At this stage, I was mainly looking after castings and crowdfunding. Over 3 weeks, I’ve spoken with more than 20 actors, and luckily found one from Liverpool. Although the go-fund I set up had reached the goal...

Music base

Music base on google drive The music was sent us by Pablo Quintana, who through the final cuts have managed to compose an emotional and uplifting piece of music, perfectly in sync with the cut choices.

Particle overlay

Particle overlay on google drive Some Particles have been added in Overlay to enhance the dreamy and ‘new reality’ effect we wanted to give to the composition. They establish a transformation, introducing a changing as they slowly increase from the tunnel scene. Their presence continues throughout the entire studio sequence (always without being too distracting), and it ends as the two go back to the tunnel.
